In the western United States, a dry climate is a way of life. But when a summer storm mixes with the dry terrain, wildfires are the result. These fast-moving fires do more than damage the environment; they often threaten homes and lives.
That's why Rural/Metro provides some of the most skilled, highly trained personnel and state-of-the-art equipment in its constant fight against wildland fires.
In addition to battling wildland fires within the communities we serve, we can provide firefighters to agencies throughout the Western region within 24 hour's notice. Our employees are trained for a variety of situations and work on contract with a number of government, state and local agencies. For example:
- Rural/Metro firefighters have helped contain dozens of fires in Idaho, Wyoming, California, Oregon and Arizona, including the famous Yellowstone fire that damaged part of the National Park.
- In Idaho and Oregon, our work on forest fires has helped save valuable environmental and logging resources from the destruction of a major fire.
- Our crews in Arizona have fought some of the largest fires in the state's history - including the massive Rio Fire, which blackened tens of thousands of acres.
